The End of the Sun, an adventure computer game set in the reality of Slavic myths and beliefs, was eight years in the making by a two-person team of Polish developers. The project, initiated by Kamil Chmielarz and his partner Marta, proves how determination, passion and knowledge of native culture can lead to the creation of an exceptional adventure game.

Inspired by Slavic heritage
The theme of The End of the Sun is Slavic customs and beliefs. The developers committed to faithfully reproducing this extremely rich cultural heritage, which resulted in a deep exploration of history, myths and ancient rituals. To ensure the authenticity of the details, they used scans of objects and architecture from ethnographic museums, transferring them directly into the digital world of the game.
Work on the project began as an independent initiative. As the creators point out, a key moment was a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, which provided the funds to realize the vision. The campaign not only helped raise funds but also built a community of players interested in the title.
Polish accent in the indie game industry
Poland has been famous for years for video game developers combining native cultural themes with modern technologies. The End of the Sun fits into this tradition, offering a unique combination of adventure gameplay, time travel and Slavic mythology. The success of such titles as The Witcher and Ghostrunner confirms that Polish developers are capable of winning the hearts of gamers worldwide.
The End of the Sun will be released on January 29, 2025, on Steam. You can already add the game to your wish list to receive notification of its release. The game promises not only hours of immersive gameplay, but also a journey back in time to a world where we can explore our Slavic heritage.
