The Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School (SGMK) and Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) organized a suicide prevention seminar as part of the 3rd National Congress of Social Work Students. The meeting was an important platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of suicide prevention and mental health promotion.
SGMK representatives presented an analysis of the current state of knowledge on suicide and an educational campaign conducted by SGMK, which aims to raise public awareness of suicidal behavior and promote preventive measures.
During the seminar, Dr. Jolanta Łodzińska, professor at UKSW, discussed the social, psychological, and cultural determinants of suicide among children and adolescents. She emphasized the need for a multidimensional approach to the problem and cooperation between various professional groups, from educators and medical personnel to social workers.
Przemysław Mocarski presented the topic from a medical perspective, discussing risk factors, warning signs, and effective suicide prevention strategies that can be used by both doctors and social workers.
The event was organized by the Department of Health Sociology and Social Work at UKSW and the UKSW Social Work Student Research Club “Social Justice” in cooperation with the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School.
