On the anniversary of the first mass transport of Poles to KL Auschwitz concentration camp, the academic community of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School paid tribute to the prisoners of the criminal regime of the Third Reich.
A delegation from our university, on behalf of SGMK Rector Prof. Gertruda Uścińska, took part in the main ceremonies held at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.
The ceremonies marking the 85th anniversary of the first mass transport of Poles to Auschwitz were held under the honorary patronage of Polish President Andrzej Duda.
June 14 is celebrated in Poland as the National Day of Remembrance for the Victims of German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camps.
“Remember the history of Poland, the fate of your peers from the war years – but live for the Poland that is and will be,” said Col. Bogdan Bartnikowski, a former prisoner of German camps and Warsaw Insurgent, in a poignant message to the younger generation.
