Admissions Open for the SGMK Doctoral School for the 2025/2026 Academic Year

The Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School has opened admissions for doctoral studies for the 2025/2026 academic year. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in an academic career who want to develop their research under the guidance of outstanding specialists and pursue a PhD in one of academic disciplines: astronomy, economics and finance, philosophy, medical sciences or law. 

In its academic and research activities, SGMK Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School integrates five “Copernican” disciplines, offering doctoral programs through the following colleges: College of Astronomy and Natural Sciences in Toruń, College of Medical Sciences in Olsztyn, College of Legal Sciences in Lublin, College of Philosophy and Theology in Kraków, College of Economic Sciences and Management in Warsaw. 

The curriculum is developed and implemented by world-class researchers and experts. At SGMK, doctoral students benefit from direct access to the knowledge, mentorship, and experience of scientists and specialists from leading research centers — MIT, Oxford University, Cambridge University, Stanford University, Princeton University, Harvard University, La Sapienza, and many others — including numerous Nobel Prize laureates such as Paul Krugman in economics; William E. Moerner and Joachim Frank in chemistry; and Didier Queloz, Michel Mayor, Arthur B. McDonald, James E.B. Peebles, and Barry Barish in physics.

SGMK is authorized to confer doctoral and habilitated doctor degrees in the following disciplines: economics and finance, legal sciences, philosophy, theological sciences, astronomy and medical sciences.     

The admissions process is fully online and will take place from July 14 to August 31, 2025. 

SGMK Doctoral School Admissions Timeline: 

  • Candidate registration, uploading of electronic documents, and payment of the application fee:  July 14 – August 31, 2025 
  • Evaluation process: September 8 – 19, 2025, including: 
  • Admissions interviews: September 8 – 14, 2025 
  • Announcement of the preliminary list of candidates eligible for enrollment: September 22, 2025 Submission of original documents by accepted candidates (as per §14 section 1):  September 24 – 29, 2025 
  • Issuance of official rejections to candidates not admitted: September 30, 2025 
  • Announcement of the final list of admitted PhD students: September 30, 2025
