Art Speaks with the Voice of AI

The Palace of Versailles, one of the most visited historic landmarks in the world, is introducing a new quality to the touring experience thanks to modern technology. Due to collaboration with OpenAI, visitors can now have conversations with 20 selected statues located throughout the palace and gardens of Versailles.

Using artificial intelligence, the statues tell their stories in three languages. Tourists can ask questions about their past or their role in court culture.

The statues’ responses are not random—they are the result of AI working together with a team of historical and artistic experts from the palace, ensuring the accuracy and quality of the information conveyed.

The Palace of Versailles’ app has also been enhanced with augmented reality—visitors can see the figures dressed in period costumes performing dance steps in the gardens. The Palace offers virtual tours of its interiors using VR goggles. This allows tourists to transport themselves to historical spaces that no longer exist today—such as the exotic menagerie with flamingos and parrots, the mazes, or the demolished grotto.
