At the BMZ Poland facility in Gliwice, the most efficient battery for electric bikes in the world has been developed. The innovative design, presented for the first time at this year’s EUROBIKE 2025 trade fair in Frankfurt, is named POWER2RIDE RB-900.
Production of the battery will begin in the second quarter of 2026, with the company planning to release 50,000 units in the first year. The battery weighs just 3.8 kg while maintaining an impressive capacity of 860 Wh, translating to a record energy density of 226 Wh/kg. In practical terms, this means a range of 100 to 250 km on a single charge—depending on riding style, type of bike, and terrain.
The RB-900 is designed for versatile use—from urban electric bikes to mountain, trekking, cargo models, and even electric SUVs. Thanks to its modular construction, the battery can be adapted to frames of various types (including carbon and aluminum), mounted from above, below, or slid into the frame tube. Additionally, users will be able to choose between charging via a USB-C port or a dedicated fast charger from BMZ.
Compliant with the latest EU standards (including Regulation 2023/1542), the RB-900 also focuses on ecology and durability—it allows for the replacement of individual cells as well as easy recycling and servicing. It uses automotive-grade components and holds certifications exceeding the requirements of the EN50604-1 standard.
BMZ Poland is a leader in the European market for lithium-ion intelligent power systems. It is part of the German company BMZ the Innovation Group, a global-leading supplier of intelligent power and energy storage systems based on lithium-ion technology.
