“I’m Still Here” – A Suicidology Podcast: Educational Campaign from the Research Project

We invite you to listen to the first episode of the suicidology podcast I’m Still Here produced by the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School as part of the project “Suicidology – State of Knowledge Analysis  and Educational Campaign,” funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

In the first episode, we invited psychologists Sylwia Majewska and Eliza Masny, who share their many years of experience working with youth in crisis.

What do we talk about in the first episode?
Why do children and teenagers hurt themselves instead of seeking help? In this episode, we address the difficult but very important topic of self-harm and the mental health crisis among young people. The experts share true stories from their work with teenagers who translate emotional pain into physical pain through cutting and other forms of self-injury.

We debunk the myth that suicides affect only children from dysfunctional families — often they also involve young people from loving, engaged homes who are afraid to burden their loved ones.

We discuss the impact of social media, peer pressure, and the role of schools in the mental health crisis of youth.

How to help teenagers in crisis, and why “silence” can be the worst signal? — we invite you to listen to the first episode titled “Why Do Young People Choose Suicide?”

The I’m Still Here podcast is available on the SGMK website and on our profiles on popular social media platforms.

“Suicidology” project – a multi-phase educational and research campaign

Since 2024, Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School has been implementing the project “Suicidology – state of knowledge analysis and educational campaign” funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The project aims to raise awareness of the problem of suicide and prepare a wide-ranging educational campaign. The initiative involves research at various levels of society, including educational, professional and medical communities. The collected data will be used to create personalized prevention strategies aimed at supporting people in crisis, as well as preventing critical situations.

The project is funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. You can follow the progress of the work on the project’s dedicated website: www.sgmk.edu.pl/suicidology, where we publish updates on a regular basis. The site also includes an interactive map of workshops conducted under the project.
