We invite you to the exhibition “Jubilee of Nicolaus Copernicus on the 550th anniversary of his birth”, which can be visited in the building of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School until November 2. Admission is free.
The exhibition is an extraordinary opportunity to explore the life and achievements of one of the most important astronomers in history. The purpose of the exhibition is not only to commemorate the eminent scientist, but also to highlight the impact Copernicus had on the development of science and our vision of the universe.
The exhibition was created by Jerzy Barycki – president of The Polish Canadian Business and Professional Association of Windsor. It represents the Canadian Polish community’s tribute to this great Polish scholar.
The exhibition presents 21 boards with fascinating facts from the biography of Nicolaus Copernicus, from his childhood in Toruń to his significant scientific discoveries. Another important element of the exhibition is a reminder of Copernicus’ reburial in 2010, after his remains were found under the floor of a church in Frombork. The exhibition also shows different ways in which Copernicus is being celebrated around the world, including the celebration of his 500th birth anniversary in Canada.
Jerzy Barycki’s exhibit has attracted a lot of interest and has been hosted at many prestigious venues including: the University of Windsor, the Federal Parliament in Ottawa, the Ontario Parliament in Toronto, the Senate of Poland, the Warsaw University of Technology and Jagiellonian University.
Nicolaus Copernicus was born on February 19, 1473 in Toruń. He was a true Renaissance man and is the most famous Pole in the world. He laid the foundations of modern astronomy, and many of his discoveries remain relevant today.
We cordially invite all science and history lovers to visit the exhibition and learn more about the fascinating life of this remarkable man!
