On the heels of an international AI summit taking place in the French capital, leading European companies announced the formation of the “EU AI Champions Initiative” coalition. Its goal is to make Europe a world leader in Artificial Intelligence and to simplify the European regulatory framework.
The coalition consists of more than 60 major companies, including Airbus, L’Oreal, Siemens, Mercedes, Spotify, and French AI start-up Mistral AI.
The coalition aims to “engage in constructive dialogue” with the European Commission and EU governments to “create a radically simplified regulatory framework” for AI technologies. This is to contribute to “unlocking Europe’s full potential” in the realm of artificial intelligence, says a statement issued by the group’s participants at www.aichampions.eu
The initiative was presented at a meeting attended by, among others, French President Emmanuel Macron, Head of European Commission Ursula van der Leyen, and the leaders of the 15 European Union member states.
