Medal for Merit awarded to Prof. Zdzisław Kijas

Fr. prof. dr. hab. Zdzisław Kijas from the SGMK College of Philosophy and Theology, was awarded the Medal of Merit from the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków. The ceremony took place on June 18, 2025, in the university’s library building.

The Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków is a continuation of the Theological Faculty at the  Kraków University (late 14th century). 

Over the years, Prof. Zdzisław Kijas has been associated with many foreign universities. He served as Rector of the Pontifical Theological Faculty of St. Bonaventure Seraphicum in Rome and a Relator at the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints. 

He is an expert at the Holy See’s agency for the evaluation and promotion of the quality of education at universities and ecclesiastical faculties, as well as the Postulator General of the Franciscan Order. He is also the author of a three-volume novel and several dozen books on theology, hagiography, and anthropology, which have been translated into several languages and published in various countries. His literary output includes about 500 scientific articles, published both in Poland and abroad.
