NBP competition for the best master’s, doctoral and habilitation theses in economics

The National Bank of Poland invites you to participate in the 9th edition of the NBP President’s Award Competition for the best doctoral and habilitation theses in economics and the 17th edition of the NBP President’s Award Competition for the best master’s thesis in economics. 

The aim of the competitions is to increase the interest of students, graduates, and researchers in macroeconomics and finance, in particular monetary policy and financial markets. 

The competitions are open to authors of master’s theses defended at universities in Poland between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, and authors of doctoral and habilitation theses on the basis of which a degree was obtained in Poland between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2024. 

 Theses may be submitted for the competition by their authors, as well as, with their consent, by their supervisors and universities.  

Submissions will be accepted until June 20, 2025. The results of the competition will be announced in the fourth quarter of 2025. 

The best theses will be selected by a competition jury, who will award: 

  • for master’s thesis: first prize – PLN 15,000, second prize  – PLN 10,000, third prize – PLN 7,000, and two honorable mentions – PLN 5,000 each, 
  • for doctoral thesis: main award – PLN 30,000, and three distinctions – PLN 10,000 each, 
  • for habilitation theses: main award – PLN 50,000 and three honorable mentions – PLN 20,000 each.
