The Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School, in cooperation with the UKSW Scientific Publishing House in Warsaw, has published a monograph entitled “Suicidology: Between Analysis and Action”, edited by Prof. Gertruda Uścińska, PhD, Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School. The publication is a key, summarizing stage of the project “Suicidology – analysis of the state of knowledge and educational campaign” financed by the Minister of Science and Higher Education.
What is the publication about?
The monograph addresses one of the most pressing social challenges of our time – the dynamic increase in the number of suicide attempts and suicides among children and young people, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. The authors present the phenomenon from many perspectives: sociological, psychological, pedagogical, medical, legal, and institutional. The publication shows that the suicide crisis among young people is the result of both individual difficulties and systemic barriers in education, mental health care, and social policy.
