On Suicidology project during “Child and Family” Conference

Representatives of Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School took part in the 6th edition of the National Child and Family Conference entitled Psychological Assistance in Crisis – Pedagogy and Psychology in Response to Contemporary Crises. They presented the results of the research carried out within the framework of the SGMK-led project “Suicidology – state of knowledge analysis and educational campaign”. 

The conference discussed both the theoretical basis of responding to the crisis and practical solutions used in working with people experiencing difficulties. Particular emphasis was placed on the integration of activities in the areas of psychology and pedagogy, which enables a more comprehensive approach to support. 

Representatives of the SGMK presented research findings from the Suicidology – state of knowledge analysis and educational campaign project. They also gave a lecture on the activities of NGOs and government agencies in the area of suicide prevention: “Evaluation of NGOs’ and government agencies’ suicide prevention activities: Challenges and strategies in response to contemporary crises.” 

The conference was attended by people interested in the topic of supporting children and families in crisis: researchers in the field of pedagogy, psychology and social sciences, practitioners involved in helping families, children and adolescents, students and doctoral students, as well as representatives of institutions supporting children and families in critical situations. 

The event was organized by Faculty of Pedagogical Sciences of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, the WSGE Academy of Applied Sciences in Józefów and the Institute of Pedagogy of the John Paul II Catholic University in Lublin. 

Conference partners included UKSW Faculty of Family Studies, Department of Sociology of Health and Social Work, UKSW Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, UW Institute of Psychology of Deviant Behaviour, UW Institute of Social Prevention and Resocialization, Association of Educational and Social Initiatives in Józefów, I Support the Family Foundation and Patronat” Correctional Association. 

'Suicidology' project – a multi-phase educational and research campaign

The Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School is realizing the project ‘Suicidology – state of knowledge analysis and educational campaign’, funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. 

The project aims to raise awareness of the problem of suicide and prepare a wide-ranging educational campaign. The initiative involves research at various levels of society, including educational, professional and medical communities. The collected data will be used to create personalized prevention strategies aimed at supporting people in crisis, as well as preventing critical situations.
