OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, has unveiled a new series of artificial intelligence-based language models called OpenAI o1. 

OpenAI plans to release the full version of o1 in 2024. The model will be available to selected partners and customers, as well as through special collaboration programs. 

O1 is expected to offer improved precision and contextual understanding compared to earlier versions. Applications range from writing support to advanced data analysis. The model’s new capabilities could significantly impact the development of artificial intelligence-based technologies and applications. 

“In our tests, the next update of the model achieves results comparable to PhD students in difficult tasks in physics, chemistry and biology. We also discovered that the model performs well in math and coding. In a qualifying exam for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), GPT-4o solved correctly only 13 percent of the tasks, while the reasoning model scored 83 percent.” – reported OpenAI.
