Participation of SGMK Chancellor in the Ceremonies at Mokrelipie

On behalf of Prof. Dr. Hab. Gertruda Uścińska, Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School, SGMK Chancellor Wojciech Kondrat participated in the unveiling ceremony of a commemorative plaque in Mokrelipie dedicated to three outstanding figures: Fr. Józef Mastalerz, parish priest of Mokrelipie in the post-war years; Major Hieronim Dekutowski, codename “Zapora,” legendary commander of the Home Army (AK) and Freedom and Independence (WiN) units; and Colonel Marian Pilarski, codename “Jar,” founder of the 2nd Zamość Inspectorate of the Home Army.

The event began with a solemn Holy Mass presided over by Fr. Jarosław Nowak – the current parish priest and spiritual successor of Fr. Mastalerz’s work. After the liturgy, the plaque unveiling ceremony took place, followed by a prayer for the fallen, a Memorial Roll Call, and the laying of wreaths at the monument.

On behalf of SGMK Rector Prof. Gertruda Uścińska, a university delegation, including SGMK Chancellor Wojciech Kondrat and Dr. Dariusz Budrowski, Director of the External Funds Section, paid tribute to the heroes.

The presence of university representatives was an expression of deep respect for the legacy of the “Indomitable Soldiers” and a reaffirmation of the university’s mission in preserving historical memory and national identity.

The ceremony had not only a local but also a nationwide significance – it recalled the role of the Church, local communities, and underground independence organzations in the fight against German and later communist oppression. It was in the monastery in Radecznica that the headquarters of the 2nd Zamość Inspectorate of the Home Army was located, whose operations covered a significant area of the Zamość region. Fr. Józef Mastalerz supported the soldiers not only spiritually but also organizationally – creating a community of resistance where faith and patriotism went hand in hand.
