Jan Krzysztof Duda ended 2024 with a great success, winning a bronze medal in the FIDE World Blitz Chess Championship, held in New York. By securing third place in this prestigious tournament, the Pole confirmed his talent and place among the top blitz chess players in the world.

The 26-year-old finished the competition with a score of 14 points out of a possible 21, which gave him a bronze medal. For his achievement, the Pole received $42,000. More important than the financial reward is the fact that Jan Krzysztof Duda made it all the way to the semifinals, where his opponent was Magnus Carlsen, the world ranking leader and one of chess’s greatest legends. The Norwegian, who was fighting for his eighth blitz chess championship title in this tournament, proved unbeatable.
This is another outstanding result in the career of the Polish grandmaster from Wieliczka. He previously won silver medals – in St. Petersburg (2018) and in Warsaw (2021).
