ICEYE Poland, the domestic subsidiary of ICEYE, a world leader in continuous Earth monitoring using SAR radar satellites, and Scanway, a Wrocław-based company specializing in cutting-edge optical and vision technologies for the space sector, have signed a cooperation agreement to develop high-resolution optical satellites for Polish users, and potentially for global customers in the future.
The new satellites are to be used for defense purposes and will achieve the optical resolution of about 50 cm, necessary for proper detection and identification of targets. They will join ICEYE’s existing SAR systems, giving Polish customers access to comprehensive Earth observation data combining the advantages of optical and radar systems.
The document was signed during the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce by ICEYE CEO and Co-founder Rafał Modrzewski and Scanway S.A. CEO and Founder Jędrzej Kowalewski.
ICEYE selected Scanway as an experienced manufacturer of optical telescope systems that supplies its products to international customers for a wide range of multi-purpose missions. Scanway trusted ICEYE as an international company with experience in developing 150-200 kg satellite systems. Both companies anticipate that additional partners may join the consortium over time.
