Presentation of “Suicidology” Project Results at the Forum for the Exchange of Ideas of Young Social Policy Experts

Forum Wymiany Myśli Młodych Ekspertów Polityki Społecznej. Suicydologia – analiza stanu wiedzy. Magdalena Jagodzińska.

On 18 June 2026, the Forum for the Exchange of Ideas of Young Social Policy Experts hosted a presentation of the results achieved so far under the project “Suicidology – an analysis of the state of knowledge and an educational campaign.” The forum was organised by the Youth Section of the Committee on Labour and Social Policy Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Youth Forum of the Polish Social Policy Association.

The presentation

The presentation was prepared by Magdalena Jagodzińska, MA, a member of the advisory team running the project at the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School. She summed up the work completed so far on the state of knowledge concerning suicidology in children and adolescents, and extended the analysis with a public and social policy perspective — her own area of specialisation.

A forum for young researchers

The forum gives doctoral students, early-career researchers, members of student research groups and people starting their careers in social policy institutions a place to present their work and exchange experience. The discussion that followed the presentation showed strong interest in the topic and the need for further research.

Beyond a health issue

The meeting helped publicise the project’s results and pointed to a wider conclusion: psychological crises among children and young people, including suicidal behaviour, are a health concern, but they are also a matter of social and public policy. Addressing them effectively calls for cooperation across sectors and for continued research and educational work.

“Suicidology” project – a multi-phase educational and research campaign

Since 2024, Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School has been implementing the project “Suicidology – state of knowledge analysis and educational campaign” funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The project aims to raise awareness of the problem of suicide and prepare a wide-ranging educational campaign. The initiative involves research at various levels of society, including educational, professional and medical communities. The collected data will be used to create personalized prevention strategies aimed at supporting people in crisis, as well as preventing critical situations.

The project is funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. You can follow the progress of the work on the project’s dedicated website: www.sgmk.edu.pl/suicidology, where we publish updates on a regular basis. The site also includes an interactive map of workshops conducted under the project.
