On May 3, 2026, on the National Holiday of May 3, Polish President Karol Nawrocki appointed the first members of the Council for the New Constitution under the President of the Republic of Poland. Among those who received their letters of appointment during the ceremony at the Royal Castle in Warsaw was Prof. Anna Łabno.
Prof. Anna Łabno is a constitutional scholar and professor of law at the University of Silesia. She is also affiliated with the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School in Warsaw as a lecturer and serves as chair of the Chamber of Legal Sciences at the Copernican Academy.
The New Constitution Council is intended to serve as a forum for debate on the direction of political system reforms and the shape of a constitution that meets the challenges of the modern era. As the President of Poland emphasized, the appointed members constitute “the core—the foundation of the Council,” which is beginning work on “a new-generation constitution for the year 2030.”
The appointment of Prof. Anna Łabno to this body is a recognition of her scholarly achievements and a significant strengthening of the voice of the academic community, including Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School, in the debate on the future of the Republic’s political system.
