More than 500 robot constructors took part in the third edition of the XChallenge International Robot Competition, held last weekend in Jasionka, near Rzeszow. Participants competed in eight categories, and the event attracted thousands of spectators.
XChallenge 2024 is one of the largest robot competitions in Europe. The event aims to popularize science and ignite passion for robotics and electronics through healthy competition. XChallenge has created a space for the development of manual and programming skills, as well as enabling the exchange of experiences and the establishment of international contacts.
The competition was held in the following categories:
- Line Follower – fast robot racing along a designated route, without avoiding or cutting corners. (Standard, Turbo, LEGO).
- Sumo – robot battles on circular tracks, in which the goal is to push the opponent out of the field.
- Lego Tug of War – tug of war by robots built from LEGO bricks.
- Freestyle – free-form designs in which competitors have full creative freedom.
- Micromouse – a maze race where robots try to find the exit as quickly as possible.
- Onion House – collecting dedicated pieces (this year it was onions) and delivering them to a designated zone.
- Smash Bots Mini – robot battles similar to the popular BattleBots, with the possibility of using weapons such as shields or flame throwers.
- Task Hunters – tasks requiring a combination of programming, manual and soft skills.
Participants in the xChallenge included elementary, high school and college students, as well as open category.
In addition to the competition, a space picnic was held simultaneously in Jasionka, where more than 20 partners presented telescopes and planetariums, among other things, at their stands.
