On December 9, 2025, the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce hosted a scientific and practical seminar entitled “Suicidology – state of knowledge analysis and educational campaign,” co-organized by Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School and Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce. The meeting brought together experts, psychologists, researchers, and practitioners involved in the mental health of children and adolescents. Its theme directly referred to the research and educational project “Suicidology – state of knowledge analysis and educational campaign” implemented by the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School.

The event opened with a lecture session devoted to the challenges faced by young people and the mechanisms leading to self-destructive behavior. Dr. Anna Kieszkowska, professor at Jan Kochanowski University, discussed the developmental needs of adolescents and the barriers that hinder their functioning in an increasingly demanding reality. Dr. Henryk Wojtaszek from the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School presented the role of trauma therapy in reducing suicide risk, emphasizing the importance of early intervention and specialized support. Paweł Zych, MA, presented the results of analyses of self-destructive behaviors declared by young people – important diagnostic material for the educational and therapeutic community.
Participants took part in practical workshops led by suicide prevention experts from the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School – Sylwia Majewska and Eliza Masny. The workshop “Mental health crisis among young people. How can we work together to reverse worrying trends?” was devoted to practical tools for supporting young people in crisis and educating school communities.

The seminar ended with a discussion that emphasized the urgent need to develop systemic solutions to support the mental health of young people and to develop the competencies of teachers, psychologists, and educators.
