SGMK Accessibility Expert on the Council for Persons with Disabilities

We are pleased to announce that Paweł Wdówik, an expert on persons with disabilities at the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School in Warsaw, associated with the SGMK Accessibility Office, has been appointed to the newly established Council for Persons with Disabilities under the President of the Republic of Poland.

The ceremony of presenting the appointment certificates took place in the presence of representatives of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. The appointment certificates were presented to the Council members by Minister Mateusz Kotecki. The event was also attended by the Deputy Head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, Adam Andruszkiewicz.

After the ceremony, the newly appointed members of the Council met with Marta Nawrocka, the wife of the President of the Republic of Poland. Referring to her numerous meetings with people with disabilities and representatives of organizations working on their behalf, she expressed her hope that the Council’s work would significantly contribute to improving the situation of both people with disabilities and their families.

The Council as an advisory body to the President of the Republic of Poland

The Council for Persons with Disabilities is a consultative and advisory body to the President of Poland. Its main tasks will include:

  • analyzing the current situation and public activities concerning persons with disabilities,
  • preparing opinions and analyses for the President of Poland,
  • conducting strategic debates,
  • formulating general conclusions concerning the situation of persons with disabilities in Poland.

The Council consists of representatives of the disabled community, people involved in activities on their behalf, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and experts on disability issues.

Małgorzata Radziszewska was appointed chair of the Council. The appointed members include: Bawer Aondo–Akaa, Michał Brutkowski, Paweł Bilski, Jakub Gietka, Maciej Jabłoński, Robert Jagodziński, Małgorzata Jarosińska–Jedynak, Katarzyna Karczewska, Maria Król, Lilianna Lewandowska, Paulina Malinowska-Kowalczyk, Agnieszka Mazurek, Tomasz Piesiecki, Blanka Popowska, Krzysztof Rowiński, Magdalena Ruszkowska-Cieślak, Jolanta Rychlik, Agnieszka Ścigaj, Paweł Wdówik, and Tomasz Wieczerzak.

During the ceremony, Minister Mateusz Kotecki took the floor and, on behalf of Karol Nawrocki, thanked the Council members for accepting the invitation to participate in its work. He emphasized that the Council’s work requires particular sensitivity to other people, and that the spectrum of tasks facing this body is broad due to the social significance of the subject matter.

Adam Andruszkiewicz also expressed his appreciation to the members of the Council, pointing out that the Council’s activities are in line with the idea of direct and active dialogue between the presidential office and the advisory bodies established under the President of the Republic of Poland.
