On December 11, 2025, the 9th National Scientific Conference “Education for Safety in the Face of Contemporary Challenges and Threats” will be held in Ełk, co-organized by the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School. During the event, the results of research on suicidal behavior among children and adolescents conducted by the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School as part of the research and educational project “Suicidology – analysis of the state of knowledge and educational campaign” will be presented.

The conference is aimed at teachers, school principals, educators, psychologists, academics, students, and representatives of uniformed services and local governments. Its purpose is to create a space for the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and reflections on strategies for strengthening safety in the educational environment.
This year’s deliberations will focus primarily on the contemporary threats faced by schools, public institutions, and entire communities. Participants will discuss new forms of diversion, challenges arising from cyberspace, information security, as well as the functioning of uniformed classes and the role of education in building social resilience. An important part of the conference will also be presentations on the mental health of students and ways of responding to the existential crises of young people.

During the event, there will be a presentation of the results of a report prepared by the team working on the project “Suicidology – state of knowledge analysis and educational campaign,” carried out by SGMK. This project focuses on diagnosing public awareness of suicide among children and young people and developing educational activities that can support prevention and response to mental health crises. During the conference, a representative of the research team will present the most important findings of the report, drawing attention to the scale of the phenomenon, its social determinants, and recommendations for schools, educators, and local institutions.
