SGMK College of Legal Sciences at ACIIDS 2026 in Taiwan: Polish Concept of Deterministic Legal Interpretation Enthusiastically Received in Kaohsiung

Kolegium Nauk Prawnych SGMK na ACIIDS 2026: polska koncepcja deterministycznej wykładni prawa z entuzjastycznym przyjęciem w Kaohsiung

From April 13–15, 2026, the 18th Asian Conference on Intelligent Information and Database Systems (ACIIDS 2026) took place in Kaohsiung, Taiwan—one of the world’s highly ranked events in computer science (class B). This year’s edition received 464 submissions, of which only 106 were accepted.

The SGMK College of Legal Sciences in Lublin was represented by Dr. Mariusz Miąsko, Professor at SGMK, co-author of a publication presenting a unique concept of a deterministic process of legal interpretation and semantic representation of law using information systems and artificial intelligence (AI). Together with Professor Marek Krótkiewicz and Dr. Marcin Jodłowiec, he presented the foundations of the solution in a paper based on Legal Norm Representation: A Semantic Approach with Explicit Scope and Deontic Modality.

The presentation attracted significant interest from the international scientific community. Informal discussions focused on the proposal of a new, deterministic legal system designed in an “engineering” manner and subsequently validated and convalidated before entering into force. The discussion aligned with the global issue of “legal inflation”—the excess, inconsistency, and increasing burden of regulations—as well as the unpredictability of judicial decisions.

The speakers emphasized that deterministic legal interpretation and semantic representation of norms, supported by algorithms and AI, can significantly increase the predictability of legal decisions and the coherence of regulatory scope. The solution is considered groundbreaking from the perspective of legal practice, combining methods from computer science with legal dogmatics and requirements engineering.

Professor Mariusz Miąsko’s participation in ACIIDS 2026 and the acceptance of the paper into the conference program constitute a significant scientific achievement for the SGMK College of Legal Sciences and confirm the team’s potential in the field of Law & AI.
