SGMK Expert on Mental Health of Poles at 9th Vision of Health Congress

Dr. Marcin Zarzecki, expert in the research and educational project Suicidology – State of Knowledge Analysis and Education Campaign, represented the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School during the 9th Vision of Health Congress: Diagnosis and Future – Medical Foresight.

During the debate on the mental health of Poles and the future of psychiatric reform in Poland, Dr. Zarzecki presented key findings and data from the report prepared as part of the Suicidology – State of Knowledge Analysis and Education Campaign project conducted by the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School.

The debate featuring the SGMK expert was among the Congress highlights. Its aim was to assess the current situation in psychiatry and indicate the directions of necessary reforms, including improving access to psychiatric care, providing community-based support, and fostering public education on mental health.

Dr. Zarzecki’s presentation received considerable interest from the session participants. The expert emphasized the importance of reliable scientific data and interdisciplinary research in developing effective solutions in the field of mental health. He drew attention to the need for integrating the efforts of scientists, physicians, psychologists, educators, and policymakers to effectively counter suicides among young people.

SGMK Suicidology Report

The report presented during the debate, prepared by SGMK experts, is the result of interdisciplinary research and analysis providing a multifaceted look at suicide and suicide attempts among young people. It contains a sociological analysis of suicidal behaviors among youth, taking into account social, family, and cultural factors. It also reviews existing preventive programs and local initiatives and identifies best practices that can serve as a foundation for effective preventive strategies to address suicidal behaviors.

The report’s conclusions reveal that, despite rising public awareness and an increasing number of initiatives undertaken by public institutions and NGOs, there is still a need for a coherent nationwide strategy that will provide a systematic, interdisciplinary response to the mental health challenges faced by children and adolescents.
