On March 30–31, 2026, Jachranka will host the second edition of the Modern Local Government Forum—one of the most important events dedicated to the challenges and future of local government in Poland. The Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School in Warsaw (SGMK) has taken on the role of content partner for the Forum.
The Modern Local Government Forum is a regular meeting of representatives from local and central government, the financial sector, and the business community. The event serves as a platform for exchanging experiences, presenting best practices, and discussing the most significant challenges facing local government entities.
Participants will include city mayors, town mayors, commune heads, county administrators, council members, as well as high-level officials, experts, and representatives of the academic community. The organizers’ ambition is to develop the Forum into a key expert conference for the local government community in Poland.
Two days of debates on key challenges
The event’s program focuses on the most current and practical issues related to the functioning of local governments:
Day one will be devoted to, among other topics, local government finances, digitalization and cybersecurity, as well as the energy transition and energy independence of local governments.
Day two will focus on waste management, environmental management, local governments’ resilience to crises, and spatial planning reform.
During numerous panels and debates, participants will analyze, among other things, the impact of economic and demographic changes on local development, the role of new technologies—including artificial intelligence—in public administration, as well as opportunities for cooperation with the private sector.
SGMK’s Expert Contribution
SGMK’s participation as a content partner underscores the University’s commitment to the debate on the future of the modern state and its institutions. SGMK representatives will actively participate in the Forum’s program, sharing their knowledge and expert experience.
On the first day of the event, Dr. Remigiusz Kopoczek (SGMK) will participate in a panel dedicated to energy transition and the energy independence of local governments. The discussion will cover, among other topics, the development of renewable energy sources, investment financing models, and building energy security at the local level.
On the second day of the Forum, during a panel on the functioning of local governments in crisis conditions and the experiences of the war in Ukraine, one of the panelists will be Dariusz Drelich (SGMK). The debate will focus on building the resilience of local governments and the role of local administration in the national security system.
A space for dialogue and cooperation
The Forum in Jachranka is not only a space for debate but also an opportunity to build partnerships and networks among representatives of various sectors. The event fosters the development of solutions that address the real needs of local communities.
The organizers emphasize that the Forum is practical in nature—focused on specific challenges and solutions, without unnecessary formalities.
