Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School

SGMK is a Knowledge Partner of the Safe Local Government Conference Series

On August 28, 2025, the inauguration of the Safe Local Government Conference Series will take place in Kraśnik. The conference is dedicated to one of the most important challenges facing local communities—safety. Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School (SGMK) is serving as the knowledge partner of the event.

The conference will bring together representatives of local governments, experts, and practitioners to jointly explore how to effectively strengthen the resilience of municipalities and counties against the threats of the 21st century.

The main theme of the conference is the growing role of local government units in ensuring the safety of residents in the face of new and increasingly complex challenges. These include, among others, cyberattacks, disinformation, energy crises, and the need to provide civilian protection in emergency situations. The conference aims to create a platform for exchanging experiences and discussing practical solutions that can realistically be implemented at the local level.

During the event, participants will address issues that are crucial for every local government unit (JST):

  • Cybersecurity and protection of IT systems, which today serve as the crucial foundation for government operations and public services
  • Securing critical infrastructure, ensuring the continuity of key local services.
  • Civilian protection, with particular emphasis on the new responsibilities of local governments in the field of civil defense and preparedness for diverse threats.
  • Challenges related to hybrid threats, such as disinformation, sabotage, and infrastructure failures.

The opening address will be delivered by the Mayor of Kraśnik, Krzysztof Staruch. This will be followed by expert presentations, including those by Brigadier General (ret.) Maciej Materka, Artur Chodziński, and Brigadier General, Andrzej Bartkowiak, PhD, Eng. The program will feature both substantive sessions and discussion panels, offering opportunities for in-depth conversations on the challenges faced by local governments—from cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection to the new obligations related to civil defense.

Participation in the conference is free of charge, and registration is available by sending an application to info@fundacjacsi.pl.

The event will not only provide access to the latest knowledge but will also serve as a space for building cooperation and establishing connections between representatives of local governments, public administration, and expert communities.

Details about the event are available on the Safe Local Government Conference Series website.
