SGMK Rector attends 10th European Congress of Local Governments

Prof. Dr. Gertruda Uścińska, Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School, took part in the 10th European Congress of Local Governments (EKS) in Mikołajki. The event, Poland’s largest platform for dialogue for local government officials, brought together leaders of local governments from Poland and Europe, as well as representatives of administration, NGOs, and the world of business and science. 

The main theme of the anniversary edition of the Congress is “Global challenges – local solutions.” The EKS program includes more than 250 events – panels, debates, special talks, workshops, presentations and author meetings, divided into six thematic tracks: Economy and Finance, Investment and Innovation, Culture and Tourism, Politics and Security, Society and Health, and Sustainable Development. 

The SGMK Rector took part in the panel discussion “Financing health care at the local government level: challenges and opportunities.” Also speaking in the discussion were Bernadeta Skóbel, Head of Department, Union of Polish Counties, Andrzej Matyja, Vice President of the Regional Chamber of Physicians in Cracow, Jarosław J. Fedorowski, President of the Polish Federation of Hospitals, and Maciej Miłkowski from the Military Medical Institute – National Research Institute. 

Prof. Uścińska also took part in a debate “Cyber security – how to ensure the protection of critical infrastructure units?”. Other debate participants included Konrad Fijołek, Mayor of the City of Rzeszów, Jan Pilewski, Director of Public Affairs of PLAY, and Bartosz Dominiak, Director General of the Ministry of Digitization. 

The 10th European Congress of Local Governments takes place on March 3-4, 2025, and is attended by local government leaders and regional elites, as well as representatives of central administration, the world of business, culture, science, NGOs and the media. It is the largest and most important event with the participation of the European regional authorities organized in Poland.
