SGMK Rector participates in consultations at the Presidential Palace on lowering health insurance contribution

At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Poland, Prof. Gertruda Uścińska, Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School, took part in consultations on the law lowering the health insurance contribution for entrepreneurs. The meeting took place on May 5 at the Presidential Palace.

President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda invited representatives of the Council for Social Dialogue to the Presidential Palace to discuss the bill on lowering the health insurance contribution for entrepreneurs, passed in late April by the Polish Parliament. The law, which assumes a reduction of health insurance contribution to be paid by entrepreneurs, currently awaits the President’s signature.

“It is significant that this law has not been consulted with the Social Dialogue Council, which I consider to be an unacceptable situation,” said President Duda, opening the discussion. “Therefore, as the one who exercises a kind of patronage over the RDS, I wanted to hear your opinion before making a decision.”

As he stated, the situation is peculiar, because from the two largest trade unions, which often disagree with each other, i.e. the OPZZ and the NZSS “S”, came “practically unanimous appeals demanding that the bill be blocked.”

“On the other hand, at least some of those associated with the entrepreneurial sector, have a different opinion,” he added. “There are two points of view, so I wanted to hear your voice directly.” Deploring the government’s way of proceeding with the bill, the President of the Republic of Poland noted that consultations on the issue are really important to him.
