On November 19, 2024, a conference “Social Aspects of Energy. Energy Revolution: implications for society and sustainable development” was held in Warsaw. The event was organized as part of the third stage of the nationwide project “Energy Revolution: Social and Political Implications,” and its main objective was to analyze the impact of the energy transition on social life and sustainable development.
The program of the event included lectures, workshops and an expert debate, which was attended by representatives of science and the public sector. Also attending the conference were representatives of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School – SGMK Rector, Prof. Gertruda Uścińska, and Vice Dean of the College of Economics and Management, Dr. Mikołaj Handshke. The discussion focused on the social and ethical aspects of the energy transition and the possibilities of implementing the principles of sustainable development in practice.
Workshops and networking
Participants had the opportunity to take part in workshops, which provided an opportunity to share experiences and deepen knowledge on social energy challenges. The conference program ended with a networking session, enabling an exchange of ideas for future activities in this field. Lectures and workshops conducted by invited experts promoted understanding of the relationship between energy and social aspects of sustainable development.
The event’s organizers stressed the importance of the conference in promoting cooperation between the academic, public and business communities. The event made it possible to broaden the debate on the energy transition in Poland, with a particular focus on its social consequences.
The project was co-financed from state budget funds granted by the Minister of Education and Science within the framework of the Social Responsibility of Science II Program.
The organizer of the event was the Association of the Institute of National Economy, while the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School was a substantive partner of the conference.
