On May 20, a training workshop was held at the Police School in Słupsk, organized within the framework of the “Suicidology – state of knowledge analysis and educational campaign” project, funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The main objective of the project implemented by the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School is to deepen knowledge of the phenomenon of suicide and develop educational and preventive activities in this area.
The workshop “Police Officers Facing the Challenges of Adolescent Mental Health” was aimed at male and female police officers who are in daily contact with people in mental crisis.
During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to learn about the current state of research on suicidal behavior, psychological and social determinants of suicide, as well as effective strategies for intervention and communication with a person in crisis. The workshop program also included practical exercises in recognizing warning signs and taking preventive measures.
The classes were conducted by specialists in psychology, psychiatry and suicidology, as well as experienced practitioners working with people at risk of suicide on a daily basis.
The training was an important part of efforts to raise the competence of uniformed services in recognizing and preventing mental crises.
