On Friday, February 27, 2026, a cooperation agreement was signed in Warsaw between the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School and the Municipality of Sułów.
The local government was represented by Mayor Piotr Kaliszewski, while the University was represented by SGMK Chancellor Wojciech Kondrat.
The purpose of the agreement is to develop long-term cooperation in the areas of education, research, and support for the development of the competences of local government employees. The document defines the framework for joint activities aimed at improving the qualifications of residents and creating a modern educational offer that meets the needs of contemporary local government administration.
Joint educational offer for local governments
One of the key elements of the agreement is the participation of a representative of the Sułów Municipality in the work of the University’s Stakeholder Council in developing the directions of the joint educational offer. It will include bachelor’s, master’s, postgraduate, and doctoral studies dedicated to JST employees and people cooperating with the local government sector.
The offer will be created based on the intellectual, organizational, and technological resources of both parties, taking into account the current needs of the labor market and the specific nature of the tasks performed by local government administration. The cooperation also involves the development of educational plans tailored to the challenges of modern public management, including the identification of competence gaps and key areas requiring development.
Internships, research, and development projects
The agreement provides for, among other things:
- the organization of internships and traineeships for SGMK students and graduates in units subordinate to the local government,
- the implementation of joint educational, scientific, and research and development projects,
- cooperation in applying for funds from the European Union and other sources of financing,
- joint development of study programs, courses, and specializations related to, among others, management, law, and human resources,
- organization of conferences and thematic seminars,
- conducting research by students and doctoral students in areas relevant to both Parties.
The cooperation is intended to improve the quality of education for the University’s students and to make effective use of their skills in administrative practice. The parties also declared their support for expert activities and the promotion of civic responsibility and care for the common good.
The agreement is another step in building a network of cooperation between the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School and local government units and strengthening the School’s role as a partner supporting the development of competencies in the public sector.
