Prof. Mark Coeckelbergh will be a speaker at Futurist of The Year 2024 Congress

We are pleased to announce that the next to join the list of speakers at the Futurist of The Year 2024 Science Congress, is Prof. Mark Coeckelbergh – scientist, expert in the field of ethical artificial intelligence, robotics and future technologies. 

Mark Coeckelbergh is a Professor of Philosophy of Media and Technology at the Department of Philosophy, University of Vienna, and serves on many expert and advisory boards on artificial intelligence, robotics, and technology. He is a former president of the Society for Philosophy and Technology (SPT) and a member of the steering committee of ETHICOMP. He has been involved in European robotics research projects PERSEO, as well as the DREAM projects, INBOTS, SATORI and The SIENNA Project. 

Prof. Coeckelbergh is a member of the editorial boards of numerous scientific journals on artificial intelligence and its sustainable development, ethics engineering and science, philosophy, technology and media, he is the author of dozens of publications and scientific articles on these topics. 

Professor Mark Coeckelbergh will participate in the first day of the Futurist of The Year 2024 Congress, which will be held on April 9-11, in Warsaw and will deliver a lecture entitled “Will the future of AI be democratic?”.

Mark Coeckelbergh-BIO 

Mark Coeckelbergh is a philosopher of technology and the world’s leading expert on the ethics of artificial intelligence and robotics. He is a full professor of philosophy at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Vienna, ERA Chair at the Institute of Philosophy, Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, and professor at WASP-HS and University of Uppsala. He previously served as President of the international Society for Philosophy and Technology (SPT). He is a member of various policy-creating support bodies, such as the European Commission’s High Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence, the Expert Council on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence at the Austrian Commission for UNESCO, the Austrian Council on Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, and the Austrian Advisory Council on Automated Mobility. He is involved in interdisciplinary research projects in artificial intelligence and robotics, and is the author of 18 scientific monographs and numerous articles. His most recent publications have been translated into many languages, such as: “AI Ethics”, “The Political Philosophy of AI” and “Why AI Undermines Democracy and What to Do About It.”
